Mensen Maken Amsterdam chooses Digital Natives
The neighborhood funds of Mensen Maken Amsterdam (MMA) have been around for ten years. In these funds, time, money, knowledge, and network from the neighborhood come together, and residents themselves decide which initiatives receive support in their neighborhood. To mark this milestone, and the partnership with the city celebrating its 750th anniversary, MMA wants to renew its digital platform and visual identity.
The new platform should showcase what MMA does, how extensive the network is, and what impact is made in the neighborhoods. For design and development, MMA enlisted the help of Digital Natives as a digital partner.

The vision for the platform
The new platform will be an accessible and inspiring platform where Amsterdammers can submit, give, or participate in their neighborhood ideas. With radical trust in residents as a starting point.
The vision translates into the following principles:
- Authentic stories from applicants, volunteers, and donors that inspire others
- A strong, visual presentation of neighborhood initiatives and the impact they make
- Showcasing contributors: visibility for neighborhood committees, donors, and partners
- An entry-level fund appearance: accessible, personal, and full of trust
Design
The corporate identity was designed by WijStudio. Based on that, Digital Natives developed the digital design. This design was tested with local residents and neighborhood committees during the annual MMA event and refined based on their feedback.
Technical realization
- The platform is being developed with Craft CMS 5 and Nuxt.
- Algolia is used for fast and relevant search results.
- Seven existing neighborhood websites are being brought together into one platform.
- Applications and donations are made simple and accessible via Jotform.
We are very much looking forward to working on this platform and contributing to the larger goal of MMA: enabling as many Amsterdammers as possible to do something for their neighborhood.
