RegioBank

Elected as the best banking website in the Netherlands

RegioBank is a unique bank with more than 500 advisors spread throughout the Netherlands. Digital Natives facilitated a digital transformation process in which RegioBank's regional and personal approach was translated into a hyper-local digital strategy and online platform.

The Challenge

Since 2012, Digital Natives has been working closely with RegioBank. RegioBank was looking for a digital partner to take the online marketing of its banking products to the next level.

RegioBank has a unique personal and local approach that, unlike other banks, is growing in the number of offices. More than 500 independent advisors are always ready to assist you in an accessible and personal way.

Digital Natives developed a digital concept for RegioBank where the local advisors are central. Based on our plan to implement a hyper-local digital marketing strategy, Digital Natives was selected as the digital partner.

Our Approach

We started with the development of an MVP and pilot based on cost-efficient technology, allowing each advisor to obtain their own unique site. Effective lean startup and design thinking methods were employed to innovate with a customer-centric focus:

  • Design Prototyping
  • Research and validation through user testing
  • Designing, developing, and launching the MVP
  • Conversion Optimization
  • Iteratively further developing and scaling based on data analysis and growth tactics

By using local photography and unique regional content, RegioBank's proposition was digitally translated. In a short time, the platform grew to hundreds of sites where advisors actively participated in the creation of content and activation through Adwords and social media.

The pilot evolved into RegioBank's most important online marketing tool. Thanks to a future-proof tech stack based on an open-source framework, the MVP was able to scale quickly.

After the first MVP release, advanced features have been developed during the further development:

  • Integration with Analytics API for integrated reports in the CMS
  • Qualification actions on contact form submissions for reliable conversion measurement
  • Integration with RegioBank's CRM for retrieving data mutations
  • Automated PDF reports with conversion data via email for each advisor

From MVP to Corporate Website

The MVP was separate from the corporate website to allow for rapid innovation. The next step was a complete redesign of RegioBank.nl to integrate the hyper-local strategy.

We started the process with an extensive design research phase. In this phase, we first formed a stakeholder group. Then we collaborated with all departments, created customer journeys for all banking products, developed digital service blueprints, and interviewed both advisors and existing customers. All insights were translated into three prototypes of renewed digital journeys, which were again tested with (potential) customers.

Subsequently, we embarked on an extensive design and development process based on the insights gathered during the design research phase. A multidisciplinary team of Digital Natives and RegioBank worked intensively together to completely renew RegioBank.nl.

Our digital strategy and customer-oriented product development process have enabled RegioBank to connect new customers to the right advisors, with personal local online marketing. This resulted in a significant increase in leads and increased participation of advisors in online marketing.

  • Increase in the number of leads by 54%
  • Decrease in CPA by 61%
  • Best-rated bank according to Consumentenbond research (2022)

By continuing to optimize after launch with our Analytics and Conversion Optimization services, the platform and RegioBank continued to grow further in the following years.

RegioBank has been number #1 in the Consumentenbond bank monitor since 2017. In 2022, RegioBank achieved an overall rating of 9.5 and an 8.8 for digital services. Additionally, the bank was once again chosen as the most customer-friendly bank in the Netherlands.
