Service platform ensures annual energy savings for 1000+ homeowners
GreenHome wants to accelerate the sustainability of the Netherlands by helping individual homeowners with their own homes. Because sustainable living has many advantages. It is good for the environment, increases living comfort, and reduces energy costs. GreenHome answers these questions through independent information provision and personalized advice tailored to the individual.
The Challenge
To make this assistance possible on a large scale, GreenHome devised the Regional Energy Desk, in collaboration with local organizations, businesses, and over 65 municipalities. The Regional Energy Desk is the digital starting point for home sustainability where you receive personal and local assistance. The desire to deliver lightning-fast and localized digital service in a short time, preferably via a headless CMS, brought GreenHome to Digital Natives.
Our Approach
In a unique collaboration, a multidisciplinary team consisting of employees from GreenHome and Digital Natives worked on renewing the platform. We started with an extensive design review to identify improvements. Then, we designed a prototype to gauge the reactions of the target audience. The points of improvement and feedback from the prototype test formed the basis for the renewed platform design.
The close collaboration between Digital Natives and GreenHome continued in the development phase; the Digital Natives development team developed the front-end of the platform, while GreenHome took care of the back-end, hosting, and continuous deployment. We chose a headless combination of the CMS Contentful, Typescript, and the Nuxt Framework.
The initial focus was on providing information at the municipal level, so that each municipality could directly serve its residents personally and with relevant information through its own Regional Energy Desk. Indexing and performance were also important themes to ensure that information is loaded quickly and is easily findable for everyone.
Result
After a number of successful sprints, we launched the renewed Regional Energy Desk together. The platform where home sustainability begins. You will find local information, get in touch with specialists, make appointments for non-binding personal advice, and can do the Digital Home Scan – in just 2 minutes, you will learn how to save hundreds of euros per year through sustainability.
By combining a headless CMS with the Nuxt framework, the Regional Energy Desk is statically generated: when changes are made in the CMS, new pages are generated as static HTML pages. This makes the platform optimally indexable for search engines and guarantees good performance. This ensures that the information is easily findable and available to everyone. Additionally, there is hardly any server infrastructure needed, keeping hosting costs low.
By using customized landing pages for each Dutch municipality, there is a recognizable environment for everyone with information about energy-saving measures. From the latest news, projects, and events in the area to subsidies and loans in the municipality; every part of the platform is designed so that the information becomes more specific as soon as you enter the municipality.
The Home Scan has already been done more than 100,000 times and every week hundreds of homeowners are helped on their way to home sustainability; together we accelerate the sustainability of the Netherlands.
