Digital accessibility and WCAG in 4 steps
Digital Natives is an expert in digital accessibility according to the WCAG guidelines. This way, we ensure that more than 4 million Dutch people with disabilities can experience websites and platforms as well as possible.
What is digital accessibility?
Digital accessibility is about optimizing websites, apps, platforms and services so that they are usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. Research shows that approximately 26% of the Dutch population has a functional limitation that can negatively affect their use of the internet.
Why is digital accessibility important?
More and more information, products, and services are only available via the web. Unfortunately, these websites and platforms are not always accessible to people with disabilities.
Fortunately, there is growing attention to this issue, with international guidelines (WCAG) and mandatory legislation. Improving accessibility can also significantly increase the reach of your website or platform. Plenty of reasons to get started quickly!
Improve the accessibility of your website with Digital Natives
Digital Natives can help you with the following services:

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) have been established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is a universal standard used by governments, among others, to assess accessibility. The WCAG 2.2 describes levels A, AA, and AAA.
Level AA is currently maintained for companies and institutions that are required to be accessible. The guidelines are very detailed.
Do you comply with the European Accessibility Act for 2025?
In the Netherlands, government agencies are already required to make their services digitally accessible. The European Union is taking it a step further. Since June 2022, many commercial companies are also required to become more accessible.
Do you want to know more about the WCAG guidelines and European legislation?
Improve your digital accessibility in 4 steps?

Step 1: Knowledge and immersion
It starts with gathering knowledge about the subject. To help you get started, we offer a Workshop. In just a few hours, you will learn the basics of digital accessibility.

Step 2: Inventory website
How accessible are you already and what still needs to happen? This can be investigated through an accessibility scan. In this scan, we examine which guidelines are already being met and which are not yet fulfilled.

Step 3: Implement and test
We improve the accessibility of your platform step by step in the areas of technology and design. We work towards your goal. For example, 'best effort' accessibility or WCAG certification.

Step 4: Submit accessibility statement
After making the necessary adjustments, the accessibility statement can be submitted at toegankelijkheidsverklaring.nl
